An Example of What We Support

Dear Moline Public Schools Foundation,
Attached, please find two photos of students using the BenQ that I purchased with MPSF grant money to enhance and upgrade the Maker Station area in the Library InfoHub at Moline High School. This marvelous technology is an interactive screen that allows coaches to create and save plays on whatever grid they use in their sport. It allows teachers to create multiple response games and study aids, and students to work out Venn diagrams and other graphics. I have used it to show book trailers, and loop slides as a backdrop to our recent skilled trades job fair. I have also used it several times this year already as I introduce information literacy skills like using a database, developing a keyword list and authenticating a resource to ELA and Social Science classes. The GSA club uses it in their after school meetings to play interactive word games, to show videos and to create and edit digital art for our hallway monitors. The District Library Team used it to display our evaluation tool as we set goals for next year.

In the pictures the students are evaluating a graphic depiction of one hundred years of science fiction novels based on frequency of reviews and cross referencing of keywords as they select a book to read for the genre unit in their English class. We are just getting started in the many, many ways the BenQ will be used to enhance learning, and create displays.

Thank you from all of our students and staff that will utilize the BenQ in the years to come.

These are important buzzwords for the Moline Public Schools Foundation as we move into 2019. For 35 years, we’ve been committed to fundraising and providing grants that engage, enrich and educate all Moline students - from the moment they step into a kindergarten classroom, until they pass under the big M at graduation.

Whether it’s engaging students through grants to teachers so they can provide innovative educational opportunities in the classroom, enriching the educational experience with brand new equipment for the Engineering Program at the High School; or educating our children with more than 1,000 free books through the READ MOLINE Program — the Moline Public Schools Foundation is committed to making the future bright for Moline students.

Join us by volunteering, making a donation or attending one of our special events. Help the Foundation help Moline Public Schools give area children the best education we can.
